Does Joy Search work with my theme?

Yes. Joy Search is a Theme App Extension, so it works with every Online Store 2.0 theme, including Dawn and its derivatives. It detects the search icon and input on its own; if a custom theme hides them in an unusual place, the dashboard shows the connection status and you can point Joy Search at the right element from the settings.

Do I need Shopify Plus?

No. Joy Search runs on every Shopify plan, from Basic upward. It does not touch the checkout, so no Plus-only permissions are involved.

How long does setup take?

Indexing a catalog of a few thousand products takes a few minutes; the theme switch takes one. Most stores are live in under fifteen minutes. The setup guide on this page walks through every screen.

What happens when I reach my monthly search limit?

Search does not stop. Your customers keep searching as usual and we notify you in the dashboard and by email so you can move to the next plan. We never switch your storefront search off because of a quota.

Which permissions does the app need and what does it store?

Joy Search asks for read-only access to products, inventory, locations and store locales, plus permission to register a Web Pixel and read its events. It stores your product catalog in a search index and anonymous search events tied to a session id. It does not store customer names, emails, addresses or payment data. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Where is my data hosted?

The search index and the app database run on dedicated servers in Germany (Hetzner). Traffic is encrypted in transit and the index is never exposed to the public internet; the storefront talks to it through a scoped, read-only key that only works for your store.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes. Cancel from the Plan page inside the app or by uninstalling. Billing runs through Shopify, so the charge ends with your current billing period and nothing else is owed. Uninstalling also deletes your index.

My store sells in several languages. Do I need several setups?

No. Joy Search reads your Shopify Markets locales and keeps everything in one index, so a German customer gets German results and prices in the right currency without a separate engine per language. The panel texts are translatable from the Appearance page.

I use Doofinder today. How hard is switching?

Install Joy Search, let it index, and switch it on in the theme editor; then remove the old search snippet from your theme. Synonyms and redirects can be imported from a CSV. Both apps can run side by side during your trial, so you can compare results on real traffic before deciding.

Will the app slow my store down?

No. Joy Search makes zero requests while the page loads. The script is about 17 KB gzipped and wakes up on the first interaction with the search box, so Core Web Vitals are unaffected.
